Autumn & Winter Weddings at Burningfold Manor

Summer weddings get a lot of attention, and with good reason. But there's something about an autumn or winter wedding that couples who choose one never quite get over. The light softens, the estate turns amber and gold, and the Manor comes into its own: fires lit, candles glowing in the leaded windows, and a warmth that's hard to find at any other time of year.

If you've been wondering whether a cooler-season wedding could be right for you, here's what it looks like at Burningfold.

The Estate in Autumn Colour

From October, the 300 acres around the Manor begin to change. The trees along the drive turn copper and gold, the lily pond takes on a stillness all of its own, and misty mornings give way to low, golden afternoon light that photographers love.

Autumn light is softer and warmer than the bright midday sun of summer, which makes for wonderfully flattering photographs. And because the sun sets earlier, that golden hour glow arrives at a much more convenient point in the day, often right between your ceremony and your wedding breakfast.

Vows by the Fire

When the weather turns, the oak-panelled library in the Manor becomes one of the most romantic ceremony spaces on the estate. Original beams, leaded windows and an open fireplace create a setting that feels intimate and timeless, for up to 60 guests.

Picture candles along the mantelpiece, the fire crackling, and your closest people gathered around you. It's the kind of ceremony that doesn't need much dressing at all, because the room does the work.

Intimate Weddings at the Manor

Autumn and winter lend themselves beautifully to smaller celebrations, which is why so many couples choose our manor weddings at this time of year.

Designed for up to 60 guests, a manor wedding centres your day on the 15th-century Manor House, from vows in the library to your wedding breakfast in the heart of the house. The seven-bedroom Manor is included, so you and your closest people can stay on and enjoy the morning after together.

The Burningfold Marquee

For larger celebrations, the Burningfold marquee overlooking the lily pond is a beautiful setting in the cooler months. Seating up to 180 guests, and linked to the Stable Bar and the Lined Barn, it gives you space to bring everyone together under one roof.

Dressed for the season with candlelight, rich colours and autumn florals, the marquee takes on a completely different feel from its summer self. As the evening draws in, it becomes the heart of the celebration, with the dancefloor filling up and the Stable Bar just next door.

Candlelight, Comfort and Long Evenings

Darker evenings are one of the great joys of a cooler-season wedding. As night falls, the estate is lit by candlelight, lanterns and the warm glow of the Manor's windows, and the whole atmosphere shifts into something cosy and celebratory.

It's a lovely time for fireworks too. With the sun setting earlier, a display over the estate can light up the night sky well before the evening is over, rather than waiting until late in the night.

Seasonal Food and Drink

A cooler-season wedding opens up a whole different menu. Our caterers love to work with seasonal produce, and autumn and winter bring rich, comforting dishes that suit the weather perfectly.

Think warming welcome drinks as your guests arrive, a hearty wedding breakfast, and late-night food that keeps the dancefloor going. Your caterer will help you shape a menu around the season and your own tastes.

More Choice of Dates

Autumn and winter dates tend to be less in demand than peak summer Saturdays, which means more choice for you. Whether you have a meaningful date in mind or simply want more flexibility, a cooler-season wedding, and particularly a weekday one, opens up far more options.

The same applies to suppliers. The photographers, florists and bands you love are far more likely to be available outside the busiest months.

Stay for the Weekend

There's something especially lovely about having your nearest and dearest stay on site in the colder months. With accommodation for up to 34 guests across the estate, everyone can settle in, warm up, and enjoy the celebrations without worrying about the journey home.

Waking up at Burningfold on a crisp winter morning, with the frost on the lawns and a slow breakfast ahead, is the perfect end to a wedding weekend.

Is an Autumn or Winter Wedding Right for You?

If you love the idea of firelit rooms, candlelit evenings and a celebration with real warmth to it, a cooler-season wedding at Burningfold could be exactly what you're looking for.

We'd love to show you the Manor and talk through the dates available.
