Your Burningfold Wedding Weekend: What to Expect

If you're planning a wedding at Burningfold Manor, you might be wondering what the experience actually feels like beyond the photographs. Many couples choose to make a full weekend of it - arriving on Friday and leaving on Sunday - and once you've been here, it's easy to understand why. Here's what a Burningfold wedding weekend can look like, from the moment you arrive to the morning after.

Friday: Arriving at the Estate

The estate is exclusively yours from Friday afternoon. No other events, no other guests - just you and your closest people settling into one of the most beautiful corners of Surrey.

The estate has accommodation for up to 32 guests across four properties, so depending on your group size, you can have everyone on site from the start. Waking up at Burningfold on the morning of your wedding is a very different experience to getting ready in a hotel.

Friday evening tends to take on a life of its own. Some couples keep it simple - a walk around the grounds as the light fades, gathering around a food truck or BBQ by the pool, an early night before the day ahead. Others bring their whole wedding party and turn Friday into its own occasion, spilling between the courtyard, the pool, and the manor. The grounds are yours to wander - the walled garden, the lily pond, the grounds stretching out across 300 acres of Surrey countryside.

Saturday Morning: Getting Ready

There is no rushing at Burningfold on a Saturday morning.

Getting ready in a 15th-century manor house is a different experience entirely. Original fireplaces, beamed ceilings, leaded windows that throw beautiful light across the rooms. The manor staircase alone is worth planning your getting-ready timeline around.

Outside, your suppliers are putting the finishing touches to everything. The estate works with a range of trusted local suppliers who know the grounds well, and couples are welcome to bring their own too.

The Ceremony

Burningfold offers several ceremony options, each with its own distinct character.

The Walled Garden is a favourite for outdoor ceremonies - framed by wisteria, roses and climbing plants, it can accommodate up to 120 guests and has a beauty that is very hard to replicate. A stretch tent can be added for shade or shelter without losing any of the setting's charm.

The Library inside the manor offers something more intimate - oak panelling, an original fireplace, leaded windows and beamed ceilings for up to 72 guests. Warm, elegant and deeply personal.

The Burningfold Marquee - the permanent marquee overlooking the lily pond - is another option for those wanting something more expansive. Linked to the Stable Bar, it can seat up to 180 guests and provides a beautiful blank canvas.

Celebrant ceremonies can take place anywhere on the estate - beneath the oak tree in the grounds, in the gardens, the library, a marquee, or wherever feels right for you.

For those wanting a traditional church wedding, Dunsfold, Hascombe and Chiddingfold are all within a short drive of the estate. After the service, return to the manor for your reception and evening celebrations.

Drinks Reception & The Afternoon

The hours between the ceremony and the wedding breakfast are some of the most joyful of the day - and at Burningfold there are few more beautiful places to spend them.

Welcome drinks tend to gravitate toward the pool and the courtyard, with guests spreading naturally across the estate. Many couples take a quiet moment in the secret garden - just the two of them as a married couple for the first time, away from the celebrations for a few minutes. It's one of those moments couples always say they're glad they planned.

The Wedding Breakfast & Evening Reception

The library in the manor - with its oak panelling, original fireplace and leaded windows - is a beautiful choice for intimate receptions. For larger celebrations, the permanent marquee overlooking the lily pond seats up to 180 guests and is linked to the Stable Bar, it is a blank canvas ready to be styled around your vision.

Our grounds can also accommodate your own marquee or stretch tent, allowing complete creative freedom for a one-of-a-kind reception.

Music and the bar run until 12 am. For those who want to mark the end of the night with something memorable, fireworks are permitted and against the backdrop of 300 acres of Surrey countryside, they're quite something.

Sunday Morning

The Sunday morning of a Burningfold weekend is something couples consistently say they didn't expect to love as much as they did.

There's no rush. Guests staying on site wake up in the manor, the Coach House, Chapel Cottage or The Dolls House and the morning takes its time. Breakfast together, a walk around the grounds, a swim in the pool, a run through the countryside before the weekend draws to a close.

The surrounding area is worth exploring too. The Surrey Hills are on the doorstep - beautiful walking and cycling country. The village of Dunsfold is close by, and the market towns of Guildford and Godalming are both within easy reach for those who want to extend their stay in the area.

One Day or a Full Weekend

A single-day wedding at Burningfold is a wonderful thing - and many couples choose exactly that. But for those who want to make the most of the estate, a full weekend turns a wedding into something you and your guests will talk about for years.

Whether you choose a day or a weekend, exclusive use means the estate is entirely yours -  every space, every corner, all of it -  for a celebration that feels completely personal.
